SkillFUL and BEIOA jointly organised an orientation program on July 3, 2012 at Bangladesh Engineering Industry Owners’ Association (BEIOA) Office in Dhaka. Through this orientation, Light Engineering Workshop Owners understood the nature of Workplace Based Training (WBT); roles & responsibilities of the relevant stakeholders and the process of addressing the skill gaps of the workers.

The main objectives of this orientation were to discuss concept and importance of workplace based training and orient the selected workshop owners on implementation modalities of WBT.

Mr. Kabir Ahmed, Coordinator, Training Operations facilitated the workshop and Mr. Devi Prasad Dahal, Project Manager of the project SkillFUL presented the principles of Swisscontact; explaining how the organization works in developing the private sector, facilitating & promoting to invest in skills training programs. He also recalled the contribution, investment and support of BEIOA in the orientation program with vote of thanks to the participants and assured all kinds of technical support from the project.

A total of 34 representatives were present including Mr. Abdur Razzaque, President of BEIOA and owners of Light Engineering Workshops in the orientation program. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Mr. Mominul Islam, ASM Abdullah & Khaleda Yasmin from the SkillFUL team were also present.

Finally, owners of the workshops appreciated the concept of WBT and its implementation in Light Engineering Industry Sector. 4 Workshop Owners primarily agreed to implement skills up-gradation training on welder occupation from mid of July 2012.
