An orientation workshop on ‘Skills Training Program - A Sustainable Approach’ was organized by SkillFUL project on June 19, 2012 in Hotel Hasan International, Jessore.
The purpose of the orientation was to build the capacity of Training Service Providers (TSPs) on proposal writing with an aim to ensure sustainable growth and to increase the number of skilled and qualified workforce in the labour market.
A total of 17 representatives (9 males and 8 females) from 8 Training Service Providers (TSPs) attended the workshop. The program started with a brief presentation by Mr. Kabir Ahmed (Coordinator-Training Operations, Swisscontact - SkillFUL) on skills development, its need and importance. In the session, National Skills Development Policy (NSDP) of Bangladesh was briefly discussed by Begum Khaleda Yasmin (Project Officer, Swisscontact - SkillFUL). A quick overview of SkillFUL project was presented focusing on the overall objectives, expected results and its approach towards sustainability.
In the main technical session, successful project proposal, sustainable business approach, content, format and methodology were discussed. During this, the participants also learnt about budgeting and developing business plan through group work. SkillFUL team discussed curriculum guidelines, course durations, enrolment and employment records, inclusion of women and People with Disabilities (PWDs) in training, flexibility in selection of trades and working districts, budgeting and other issues.
Ms. Sufia Mahmud Rekha (proprietor of Sananda Beauty Parlour & Training Center) and Mr. Jogesh Chandra Datta, Senior Instructor of Christ Church Trade School (CCTS) said that this orientation will be very helpful for writing technical proposal as per required template. The orientation ended by vote of thanks from the organizer. |
